I write feel-good stories.
Not feel-good like Hallmark, feel-good like setting a bone.*
I didn’t grow up writing musicals. I wrote my first song in the bathroom of a half-condemned apartment during a devised puppet show. The show had been silent to that point but the moment needed words, so I gave it some. It’s called “The Woodsman” and you can find it on Broadway HD. That’s my approach to writing original musicals, everything in service of the story and the best idea wins. The musical style and tone of my projects are very different from one another but they are all stories of self-healing. I am on a crusade against isolation and that is the through line of the original stories I develop.
I recently moved from New York to just outside Los Angeles (where I am also from) with my husband Sean Rogers and our daughter.
*Hallmark can definitely still hit me up, I can be bought and taught.
